Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 1550

Here is a stunning Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date from the 1970's

Currently unpolished and shows it's originality. The watch has a stunning rare Blue dial with some beautiful patina

The Rolex 1550 was forged with a stainless steel body which was then covered in a relatively heavy layer of the precious metal, in what was called ‘gold shell’.
That coating, in 14k and around 240 microns thick, would then be pressure formed, hammered and soldered into place.
