The Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 has quietly become one of the most compelling neo-vintage Rolex sports watches. Produced from 1989 until 2011, it sits in a sweet spot in the brand’s history — modern enough to wear every day without worry, but still carrying the proportions and character of the earlier Rolex tool watches.
Originally developed for explorers working in environments where daylight isn’t always visible, the Explorer II features a fixed 24-hour bezel and GMT hand, allowing the wearer to distinguish between day and night or track a second time zone.
