More details

The Rolex Cellini Danaos 4233 belongs to a short-lived chapter of hand-wound dress watches from the brand’s quieter side. Crafted in solid 18 ct yellow gold, it carries a sculpted cushion-shaped case that gives it presence without excess. The gloss-black dial features applied numeral markers and the subtle Cellini signature — a design that captures Rolex’s most restrained era of classical watchmaking.

Inside is the manual-wind Calibre 1602, a slim and reliable movement that keeps the case balanced on the wrist. The case-back bears the engraved Rolex Cellini wreath and “750” hallmark, confirming its solid-gold construction.

This D-series example from circa 2005 remains in good overall condition, showing light signs of age and honest wear. It’s fitted to a genuine Rolex alligator strap with a matching yellow-gold pin buckle, completing a look that’s quietly elegant and distinctly from another time.

Collectability

Produced near the end of the Danaos line, the D-series 4233s are among the last hand-wound Cellinis before the collection was redesigned entirely. The model’s modest size, precious-metal case, and clean proportions make it an appealing choice for collectors who value understated craftsmanship over display.

Condition

### Calibre Club Condition Guide

**Excellent**
Minimal to no signs of wear. Case and bracelet are sharp with clean surfaces. May show only the lightest handling marks under close inspection. Suitable for collectors seeking near-new or carefully worn examples.

**Very Good**
Well-preserved with visible but honest signs of wear. Light surface marks and minor age-related patina may be present. Strong case lines and overall presentation. Ideal for daily wear or long-term enjoyment.

**Good**
Noticeable wear consistent with regular use. May include softened edges, heavier marks, or dial ageing. Mechanically sound and fully wearable. Priced in line with its character and condition.
